Setting up my city (location) on Mahnem

You can set your location both in the app and on the website. The city specified in your account settings will be displayed in all your posts, both in the Travelmates and Walks sections. To make everything work properly, you may need to adjust some settings in your operating system. Below we’ll look at general settings as well as specific cases.

⚙️ General settings for everyone

1. Make sure Airplane mode is turned off. Location services do not work in this mode.


2. Check that location services are enabled on your phone

📱 Mahnem App

If the app cannot detect your city, check whether location access is enabled for the Mahnem app:

If the city cannot be detected, check that location access is enabled for:

• your browser
• the Mahnem website.

🌍 Checking permissions for your browser

iOS SAFARI - 2 STEPS:

1. ⚙️ Phone Settings ➝ Privacy & Security ➝ Location Services ➝ Safari Websites.

✅ Choose one of the following options:

• “Ask Next Time or When I Share”
• “While Using the App”

2. ⚙️ Phone Settings ➝ Apps ➝ Safari ➝ Scroll down ➝ Location

Do you see mahnem.ru / mahnem.com in the site list?

• Yes ➝ set the option for our site to Ask or Allow.


• No ➝ in the "Other Websites" section, select Ask.

iOS - BROWSERS OTHER THAN SAFARI:

⚙️ Phone Settings ➝ Apps ➝ "Browser Name" ➝ Location

✅ Choose one of the following options:

• “Ask Next Time or When I Share”
• “While Using the App”

ANDROID

⚙️ Phone Settings ➝ Apps ➝ "Browser Name" ➝ Permissions ➝ Location

✅ Choose one of the following options:

• "Allow all the time"
• "Allow only while using the app"

🌐 Checking permissions for the website

iOS: SAFARI

• Go to mahnem.ru, tap the Info button at the start of the address bar (it looks like a document icon).
• In the dialog that opens, tap the (⋯) Menu button with three dots.
• Scroll to the "Permissions" section
• In the "Location" field, select Allow.

Tap the (⋮) Menu button with three dots next to the address bar. Then:



COMPUTER: CHROME / YANDEX

Click the (⋮) Menu button with three dots in the top-right corner. Then:

⚙️ Settings ➝ Privacy & Security ➝ Site Settings ➝ Permissions ➝ Location.

1. Check that under "Default Behavior," sites are allowed to request your location. If not, select: Sites can ask for your location.


2. Ensure mahnem.ru and mahnem.com are not listed under "Blocked." If they are, remove them from the list.

COMPUTER: SAFARI

In the top menu, click Safari and select "Preferences." In the window that opens, go to the 🌍 Websites tab, then in the left menu select "Location." In the center you will see a list of sites. Scroll to mahnem.ru and mahnem.com, then select Allow or Ask on the right. If the list is empty, select Allow or Ask at the bottom right under "When visiting other websites."
